"Hi, I'm Puppet! I joined the Morris family when I was one day old.
My dog-mom (a Dalmation-German Shepherd mix) wouldn't feed me, so
Lisa Morris (my people-mom) took me home and bottle-fed me. Lisa's
parents said she absolutely, positively couldn't keep me, but by the time
I was weaned they gave in.
"I know lots of tricks: I can sing, say 'walk' and 'I love you', and go find missing things like hairbrushes and belts. I understand almost everything people say, but because I have a dog mouth, I can't talk as much as I'd like to. I have to act like a mime to communicate, but I'm very good at it. Sometimes the family tries to trick me by spelling things like 'walk' or 'ice cream' when I'm in the room, but I can spell, too. My favorite ice cream is the Frosty Paws brand for dogs.
"I've also learned how to smile just like a person, where I show my teeth. When I'm really, really happy I grin really big. It scares visitors, because they think I'm snarling even though I'm wagging my tail. I think that's funny, so I grin even more. Silly people! If I knew how to use a computer I might write a book all about humans. Deb has a 100-year-old book called Under The Dog Star, written by a dog named Jock. I wonder how he did that?
"Since Lisa (my people-mom) got married, I've lived part-time with her and my adopted dad, Ed, and part-time at the Morris house. I like visiting my old friends Rusty and Candy, but I ignore the cat. He scares the other dogs, but he doesn't scare me."
