OUT OF CONTROL
The bus was going fast now. Several fancy cars with radar detectors
blasted past them, going about ninety. Larry idly glanced around the inside
of the bus, then up at the bus driver.
That was when it happened.
As he watched, Mrs. Blackman looked down--then slowly fell sideways,
her hands still gripping the steering wheel. Larry's mouth flew open. Before
he could move, the whole bus swerved to the right. His book bag shot off
the seat onto the floor, and he was thrown halfway out into the aisle. A chorus
of shrieks went up as the other kids slid out of their seats.
Horns blared and tires screeched as cars swerved to keep from slamming
into them. The kids screamed in terror. They were going over fifty
miles per hour with no one at the wheel!
