Three Stories in One Book...

Horse Kick
Teton County (Idaho) Sheriff Kim Cooke was critically wounded when his horse kicked him in the face. His nine-year-old daugher, Colleen, administered emergency first aid she learned in 4-H, then led him miles through the wilderness to find help.

See exciting video clip from Colleen's story (Episode #103) on the
Real Kids, Real Adventures TV series!

Adrift in the Atlantic
A small plane carrying 14-year-old Matthew Sperber of West Palm Beach, Florida crashed into the Atlantic just off Florida’s coast, leaving Matthew and his father adrift in shark-infested waters without a life raft, water, or any way to signal for help.

See exciting video clip from Matthew's story (Episode #110) on the
Real Kids, Real Adventures TV series!

Blizzard
Fifteen-year-old Matt Meyers of Gering, Nebraska had to fight for survival when he and his dog were lost overnight in a howling blizzard in Wildcat Hills.

LOST AT SEA

"Brace yourselves!"
Matthew glanced out the window in terror. The waves seemed to be rushing up to meet the plane. His seat felt like it was dropping out from under him, faster and faster, like a runaway rollercoaster.
"Matthew!" his father said, twisting around in his seat. "When we hit the water, don't you wait for anything; just get out as fast as you can. Understand?"
"Yes, sir." Matthew felt a hard lump in his throat. The look on his father's face-- this wasn't right. They weren't supposed to crash. It wasn't supposed to be like this! His heart pounded against his ribs, making it hard for him to breathe. He peeked out the window again, then froze.
The waves were only a few feet away!

"'A thrill a minute' is a good way of summing up these exciting stories. Not only do readers get to enjoy adventure-packed stories of real heroes their own age, they are able to learn great lessons on survival techniques that will enable them to be more efficient in any emergency." (Mary McKinney, Christian Library Journal)

"Great reading for young readers and adults as well." (Librarian's World)

"Deborah Morris spolights the very best in children." (Garland News)

"Kids are now action heroes in the nonfiction book series Real Kids Real Adventures." (South Florida Magazine)

"Young teens who love action and adventure will love these true stories. Each story has the flair of a novel and the excitement of tonight's network news." (Living with Teenagers)

"Morris is a skillful story weaver. In spite of the fact that you know something traumatic is about to happen (or the story wouldn't be in the book), you can't always guess what it will be. Morris' foreshadowing technique is wonderfully subtle." (Minnesota Christian Chronicle)

"Morris retraces the steps of her characters... Each story is the true tale of a child's harrowing experience and how they used their spunk, ingenuity and courage to overcome the odds." (Dallas Child/Fort Worth Child Magazine)
