Three Stories in One Book...

Firestorm
Sixteen-year-old Kathleen Hedges and her younger brother, Keith, from Miles City, Montana, were camping with their father in the wilderness bordering Yellowstone National Park. They had just settled down for the night when a firestorm--a "tornado on fire"--swept down on them, exploding rocks and trees in its path.

See exciting video clip from Kathleen and Keith's story (Episode #311) on the

Plane Crash
Thirteen-year-old Shawna Trantham of Anton, Texas was celebrating Christmas at her aunt’s house when her family went up in her uncle’s plane to look at Christmas lights. But as they flew over Ransom Canyon the plane engine died, sending them plummeting down onto the rocks below. Seriously injured, Shawna hiked miles to get help for her family.

Trapped Underground
Ten-year-old Cub Scout Josh Dennis of Kearns, Utah became separated from the rest of his group while exploring an abandoned mine. After a massive five-day search failed to find him, the local sheriff’s department prepared to call off the search-- only to have a local volunteer find the boy at the last moment.

Episode #305 on the
Real Kids, Real Adventures TV series!

SWALLOWED UP BY DARKNESS

Josh stood frozen in the misty darkness, his heart pounding. What should he do?
"Dad!" he screamed again. His voice sounded strange, like it was being swallowed up by the darkness. After a moment he calmed down. He couldn't be far from the mine entrance; he could find his way back by following the rail tracks.
He started off slowly, trailing his right hand along the rough wall while extending his other hand out in front of him. He walked for several minutes in what seemed like a straight line. But finally he began to wonder. Shouldn't he have reached the entrance by now?
Groping his way over toward the opposite wall, he felt for the rail tracks. They weren't there anymore. He had taken a wrong turn in the dark.
He was lost.

"Young teens who love action and adventure will love these true stories. Each story has the flair of a novel and the excitement of tonight's network news." (Living with Teenagers)

"'A thrill a minute' is a good way of summing up these exciting stories. Not only do readers get to enjoy adventure-packed stories of real heroes their own age, they are able to learn great lessons on survival techniques that will enable them to be more efficient in any emergency." (Christian Library Journal)

"Great reading for young readers and adults as well." (Librarian's World)

"Morris retraces the steps of her characters... Each story is the true tale of a child's harrowing experience and how they used their spunk, ingenuity and courage to overcome the odds." (Dallas Child/Fort Worth Child Magazine)

"Morris is a skillful story weaver. In spite of the fact that you know something traumatic is about to happen (or the story wouldn't be in the book), you can't always guess what it will be. Morris' foreshadowing technique is wonderfully subtle." (Minnesota Christian Chronicle.)

"Deborah Morris spolights the very best in children." (Garland News)
