Three Stories in One Book...

Mountain Lion
Sixteen-year-old Aaron Hall of Piltzville, Montana was working as a first-time camp counselor at the Marshall Mountain Day Camp when, during a day hike with the younger campers, a mountain lion pounced on six-year-old Dante Swallow of Missoula, Montana. Unwilling to stand idle while the animal mauled the terrified boy, Aaron rushed to the rescue with his bare hands.

Race for Rescue
Fifteen-year-old Eli Goodner and his paraplegic father were scouting out a remote "handicapped hunting" area in Kingston, Idaho when their van broke down, stranding them in zero-degree weather with no source of heat. Knowing his father would soon freeze to death without help, Eli embarked on a life-and-death 14-mile race to summon help in time.

Lifesaver
Twelve-year-old Girl Scout Stephanie Shearman of Jonesboro, Arkansas was running in the Arkansas State University’s five-kilometer "Fun Run" in Hot Springs when she saw a 52-year-old runner just ahead collapse. Since none of the adults on the scene knew how to perform CPR, Stephanie stepped in to save the man’s life.

STALKED ALONG THE TRAIL

The news that they were almost there gave the tired hikers a burst of energy. Even Aaron found himself walking faster--especially since he wasn't having to carry anybody on his back. He was next-to-last in line, a few steps ahead of little Dante.
"Doing okay?" Aaron asked, glancing back over his shoulder. The boy's face was flushed, but he was still charging along.
"Yeah," Dante replied. "But I'm thirsty."
"Me too. Maybe we can get some water or something at the top."
"Good."
Aaron walked on, letting his mind wander. It was a pretty day for a hike, and the cool air felt just right. The trip back down would be a lot easier.
Behind him, Dante suddenly gasped. "There's a mountain lion!"

"The Real Kids Real Adventures series will restore your faith in America's youngsters.... The stories champion the notion that heroic courage abides in the heart of every child." (Joy Dickinson, Richardson News Book Reviewer)

"Morris' edge-of-your-seat drama and camera-eye description gets kids to flip the page instead of the remote." (Dallas Child Editor Marissa Trevino)

"Wholesome and exciting... a series that will make both kids and parents happy." (ABC Radio)
