Three Stories in One Book...

Trapped in a Glacier
Teenage brothers Roy and Karl Coulthard of Edmonton, Alberta were hiking across a glacier when their their scout leader fell, sliding into a narrow ice crevasse. With night approaching and temperatures rapidly dropping, they had little time to rescue their guide -- and themselves -- from the killing cold.

Real Kids, Real Adventures TV series!

Wolf Attack
Seven-year-old Katie Deeter of Tucson, Arizona was playing with her neighborhood friend’s "dog", Mokie, a wolf hybrid, when without warning the animal attacked. Katie and her friends work together to escape the angry animal.

Rescue on the Internet
Twelve-year-old Sean Redden of Denton, Texas was online chatting with friends in a role-playing chat room when a frightening message popped up on the screen: I CAN’T BREATHE! Although Sean assumed at first that it was a prank, he soon became convinced that it was a real emergency--and launched an international rescue effort that saved a girl’s life in Finland.

Episode #210 on the
Real Kids, Real Adventures TV series!

A DISTANT DISTRESS CALL

Sean decided he'd better get off the computer before his mom yelled at him. He was typing his "gotta go" message when a new user entered the room. Her handle was "Susan Hicks."
Sean frowned. He'd never seen this Susan Hicks before. What was worse, her first message was "shouted" in all capitals:
SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP ME!
Chances were, she was having a technical problem with the chat room. Sean decided he'd stay on long enough to help her out....
HELP ME. I AM HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING. I CAN'T FEEL MY LEFT SIDE. I CAN'T GET OUT OF MY CHAIR. HELP ME!
Sean's heart began to pound, and his chest tightened painfully. There was something about her message that seemed real... and everybody else was ignoring her. Typing fast, he wrote:
Are you serious? Or are you just role-playing?
The answer seemed to take forever. When it finally came, Sean stared.
I ASSURE YOU, THIS IS NO HOAX!
Sean sat frozen for a moment, picturing a girl stuck somewhere all alone, gasping for air. Maybe she was an asthmatic like him, and she couldn't get to her medicine. Whatever it was, he couldn't just leave her.
